Black and White

Here are some new pictures! I had a black and white order that inspired these pieces. I used black and white polymer clay and crystals to create this stunning focal piece. I reduced the pedal of the flower to create a flower cane that I paired with a kaleidoscope cane to make the beads.
Enjoy!

Pink and Green but Mature In Style

I was approached by a friend to create a set that would showcase her love of pink and green. I decided that i wanted to take on the challenge. I chose to find a way to help this color combination grow up. This is the result. I think that i achieved what i set out to do. As the piece comes together, i will post pictures.

I am the mother of a three year old!!

We celebrated my sons third birthday on Saturday. He got a real drum set and a guitar. You should have seen his face when he uncovered the drums. All smiles. Friday, my husband and i went shopping for him. It was fun to look at all the fun toys there are. We decided that we wanted to have a water theme so we got him an 18 inch swimming pool with water toys and water balloons. My husband wanted to get him a squirt gun but i was resident to commit. Isn't he too young for guns? Well, after a long discussion, we decided to pass. Not because we were opposed to them, just because it merited further discussion. Anyway, we invited mostly family to the party and it was a wonderful time. We all talked and ate and admired the little reason we all gathered for. Presents were not the focus of our little get together, so if there were any we opened them quietly with the giver. Uncle Dan very excitedly gave his gift to Caleb and what would it be? Four little squirt guns!! Funny, It was a relief to have someone older and wiser settle the discussion for us. As a result of Uncle Dan's contribution the party became much more entertaining. We immediately established who the first target would be....Yup, you guessed it. Uncle Dan! Because of Calebs height, everyone looked like they had wet themselves.

What a wonderful day!

Great days in the fellowship!

Church rocks!!! It was so wonderful to be with my christian family today. We had Andy Avery sing for us at the church this evening and Leah was in heaven. She danced until she tipped over and fell asleep.

Caleb said the sweetest thing today in the car on the way home from church. He wanted to know why the sky was getting dark. I told him the the sun went to bed. Then he asked, "is the sun in heaven with God and Jesus in the ky!" I told him that Jesus is in my heart and that someday He would be in his heart. He replied, "za! When I get bigger I get Jesus in my heart a whole much too!"

I pray that these words are a sign of his future. I want him to love Jesus and someday give Him his heart.

How did I get so lucky! My son is the best!

Back at it!

Well, it has been quite a long time since my last post! Sorry! I guess I better catch you up on all the latest. Mothers day was a blast. It is so cool to be a mom. I think it's great that, because God blessed me with two amazingly wonderful kids, I qualify for an additional gift giving day. That rocks! I get beautiful children and presents! I got a digital camera from my fabulous mother and father-in-law. My husband finally gave me the Ipod that I was suposed to get for my birthday. I am so excited to actually have it in my hands! It is a brilliant piece of technology! I hope it will help me to post more often.

Caleb said the funniest thing on Friday. I always go home for lunch so that I can feed my 8 month old little girl. Caleb (3 yrs) love to have me home and hates it when I leave. He always says, "Mommy, no go a werk! Chay heew!" Naturally it is very hard to leave such a darling
little guy. Well, I have taken to telling him to find his cell phone and call my principal and tell him that I shouldn't go back to work. It has been effectve in passifying him. Friday however, was a different story! As I headed toward the door to go back to work, I heard Caleb cry out, "Wait a minint! Mommy, dust a sekind! I get my cew pone an caw Dam Mader! I tell him dat you no gotta go a werk!" When I returned to work I did warn my principal of my sons impending "cell phone" call. He cracked up!

You should see the other guy!

The other day i came home for lunch and found that my son had fallen off of a bed that he was jumping on and bumped his eyebrow. It was such a shocking bruise that i immediately cried out, "Caleb, what happened to your eye!" he replied casually, "Me not hurt'n Mommy. I Otay" Relieved to know that he was fine i reflected on my own shock at seeing his injury. "My husband will freak!" I thought. Then i had a brilliant idea. My son has become a regular little Mina bird. He copies every thing he hears. I taught him to say, "You should see the other guy!"

As expected, my husband and i laughed hysterically when my son replied to my husbands inquiries about his shiner with , "You can seed da udder dy!"

As the day wore on however, the other guy started to look a little better. When i placed him in bed that evening he had a "bangdade" on his forehead covering a goose egg, on his right elbow, on his left knee and one his right cheek. Two of those "bangdades" were probably not necessary but he thought they were so i conceded. Who would say no to a face like this.

Spring Pictures!!

We spent some quality time last month getting pictures taken. Now i know that i am their mother and i am supposed to think that my kids are the best but really...My kids are!!! There were two families ahead of us at the studio and the poor photographer was just short of standing on her head trying to get the kids to smile. All they did was look at her suspiciously. Then my kids... literally all she had to do was lift her eyebrows and both of my beautiful children lit up the room with smiles. This is the result. Enjoy!

Chris' Funeral

Well, i was able to attend Chris' funeral service today. I was impressed by the sheer numbers of students in attendance. It was pretty obvious that he will be missed. To tell you the truth, it makes me happy to know that the angry, dark, somewhat reclusive young man that i taught in school left a mark on the world that seemed to punish him for everyone else sins. He lived a life that wasn't fair. And he seemed frustrated and jaded by life but he was always real. He was a "blood and guts" kind of real who experienced life in the rawest sense.

Over all, it was well done in every way. They really seemed to capture the positive side of the kind of young man he was and the multitude of young people seemed to be comforted by it. There was a strong warning given by the family concerning the importance of making wise choices. The sermon was titled, "Dealing with a difficult death" and the scripture came from John 14:1-3, Proverbs 3:5,6 and Psalms 23. The minister encouraged the congregation with the truth that God does care about our sorrow, He feels it to, God's ways are higher than ours and his plans are better that ours, and when we walk with God he will lead us only in ways that are profitable for our character.

This was a message that everyone of those young people needed to hear. I pray that God will do great things.

I Think She Has an Ear Infection

I am not sure but i think Leah has an ear infection. She has never tugged at her ears before. Now she is forever grabbing and scratching her ears. Poor baby, her finger nails grow so fast that i cant keep them trimmed like they should be and she is turning the side of her face in to hamburger.

Church Days are Great Days!

I have not been able to get to church for the last three weeks because of the sick kids mentioned in a previous post. I was finally able to go and it was great! I love those people. It was wonderful to realize that to those people i am important and so is my family. They all came up to us wanting to know how we were. My church family is the best! My youth group kids are having a hard time with Chris' death. I hope that Gad can bring about something good from this.

Goodby Chris-- I Loved You.

I just found out that one of my former students accidentally killed himself last night. He was playing the choking game and it got carried away. Chris was a special kid. He was one of those kids who are hard to like let alone love, but i did. my heart reached for him without my permission and i found myself thinking and worrying about him. Now i wonder, did i do all i could for Chris? Was i all he needed? Did i miss an opportunity to make the difference in his life? I tried, but was it good enough?

I wont know the answers to these questions until i see Jesus someday. All i can do now is try to make a difference in the lives of the young people God brings to me. This has taught me that time cant be wasted. These young people need to have people invest in there lives. They need someone to like them when they think no one else does. I cant waste a single opportunity. I will love them and ask them the questions that need to be asked.

God in heaven, please be with this young mans friends and family. Give them comfort and peace. I know that you can make all things work together for our good if we are called according to your purposes. Help us to be better people. Let this tragedy bring about some good.
In your Holy Sons precious name,
Amen.

Sick kids are trying to kill me!!

Don't you think they are cute! It is so hard to see them sick! I have just spent the last 2 weeks trying to get everyone in my house healthy. I am the only one left to clean up the puke, poop and snot. Not sure i will make it but i am sure that, "this too shall pass." At least that is what my mother told me. It sure is hard to see the crest of the mountain when you are in the deepest part of the valley.
On a brighter note, I was able to spent some quality clay time with a fabulous clay master on Friday. We played into the wee hours of the morning and had a blast. I think i have found a kindred spirit and a great friend. The "Father of Lights" is always finding ways to supply my needs, Even when i didn't know i had them.
